In November of last year I was hit right by spine with a literature textbook that was thrown across the room from a distance of about 5 or 6 feet. The day after I started having tremors in my whole body. I had MRI’s of my head and back that show good. I’ve also had an EMG on my arms and an EEG which all showed good. I have back pain in the spot where I was hit as well as pain in my legs. If you press the spot where I was hit I quite shaking. I was wondering if this could possibly be a damaged nerve and if so is there a test that can be ran to find out since I was hit the back?
Doctor Joshua’s Answer:
Based on your short description, I cannot see any immediately obvious connection between the physical trauma and the tremor episodes, especially considering that the MRIs were normal. However, if you still suffer from pain and tremors, I suggest that you talk to your own doctor again as I cannot make any diagnoses over the Internet. Additionally, the role of phsychological trauma should be considered, in case this incident had an emotionally significant impact or implication, and no physical cause can be found. For instance, post traumatic stress disorder can manifest various symptoms, including whole body tremors.
