I have a 7 year old daughter who sleepwalks 3-4 times a week. As a baby she was not a good sleeper through the night till she was around one year. She has always been a restless sleeper. She kicks and is just everywhere. The sleepwalking is driving me crazy. Not only am I losing sleep but it is affecting her. She is hard to get up in the morning. She just wants to stay in bed, and she is tired throughout the day. I am trying to calm her down as best i can before bed but she is a hyper and active child. I have 2 other children who do not have this problem but as a child I WAS a sleepwalker. I no longer have this problem but according to my husband sometimes I sit up in bed while sleeping and start talking. What can I do to help her get over this. Is this something she needs to see a doctor about or do we just have to live with it until she grows out of it? Thank you in advance.?

Learn the difference between mattress sizes and firmness. There can be a lot said about electric adjustable beds available on the market. Get a memory foam mattress pad for an instant boost to your bed.
Dr.Sinuhe Answers:
Incidentally, I was a sleepwalker myself. And I turned out to be just fine (I’m sure that at least my mother thinks so). I wouldn’t worry too much, especially since it tends to get better as a child gets older, although a certain tendency may remain. Having said that, it is a good idea to have the doctor check your daughter to make sure there is no organic/treatable reason for this and also because as you say the whole situation is by now making you both very tired. Obviously, you’ll also want to make sure your home is safe for sleepwalking.
