Dear Dr. Joshua: ?
?
I have a 16 year old son that has a lump, soft tissue, directly behind his left ear in the temporal area. This area is located where an arm of a pair of glasses would press against the head. I only noticed because it was getting bigger, about the size of a dime in a oval shape. Should I be concerned as this doesn’t bother him and there is nothing on the other side of his head.
Dr. Joshua’s Answer:
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is no way for me to diagnose the lump in question. A lump can result from any number of causes ranging from the completely harmless to very serious. While the harmless kind is much more common, I do recommend that you have your son see his primary care physician about this, especially if the lump persists or grows in size.
