Missed Period Negative Pregnancy Test

I am a 25 year old female. My period is late by two weeks. I took a home pregnancy test and it came up negative. I am beginning to show symptoms of being pregnant… ie nausea (no morning sickness though) more frequent urination, acne(which would normally occur when I get my period, but I have the acne and no period now) extreme mood changes, etc… Could I be pregnant and the home test be inaccurate or could it be something else that is keeping my regular period from coming?

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

It’s unlikely that the home pregnancy test was inaccurate, but to make sure you could repeat the test. Late or missed period is not an uncommon occurrence in young women. However, I recommend that you see your doctor about this and have your symptoms evaluated. There could be a urinary tract infection or something else that requires treatment.
