I went to the doctor Wednesday and they did a biopsy to check the lining of my uterus for cancer and pre cancer cells (just so you know if you ever do it to someone it feels like contractions when you are having a baby). they had me come back the next day to do an ultrasound to check the dermoid. The doctor told me that the lining of my uterus is very thick and that can cause cancer. So now I am going next month to remove the dermoid and have a DNC or something.? Now my questions are:
They are doing laparoscopic surgery to remove the dermoid do they put me to sleep when they do that or am I awake and he said that I will leave the same day unless they hit something that they are not suppose to (wish he did not say that)does hitting something you are not suppose to happen a lot? would I need to take time off from work? I am a nursing assistant in a nursing home and do a lot of lifting. The doctor told me that a dermoid is caused from an egg not being fertilized that starts to turn in to a fetus on its own and that it can have hair teeth bones a heart a liver and stuff like that first is that true that it can have a heart and stuff and if so could it have turned into a baby like is it in a way like having a miscarriage?

Laparoscopic surgery can be performed under general anaesthesia (sleep) or spinal anesthesia (awake, especially for same-day outpatient procedures), so you’ll need to express your own preference. Hitting something you’re not supposed to (I agree - careless words) does not happen often, but of course, sometimes it does and usually it does not present any major problems. You’ll probably need some time off work, a week or two - ask your surgeon. The dermoid can have many tissues but they are not organized, just a mixture of various tissue types, and it could never have developed into a baby - it’s a tumor, not an embryo or a fetus - it was never fertilized. DNC means dilatation and curettage, to remove the inner lining of the uterus.
