Menstrual Bleeding, Ovarian Dermoid Cyst

I have a few questions I would like to ask. first I have a cyst on my cervix and a 4 cc dermoid (sp) in my left ovary ( last time I had it checked it was 8 months ago). I have been menstruating sense Feb 24 non stop with a medium flow and some blood clots. now my question is can the things that I have (dermoid, cyst) be causing me to bleed continuously or is it something else? and if it is something else do you know what it could be? also what causes dermoids and are you born with it? and can having that cause me to have a very low sex drive?

I am 30 years old and I have 3 children

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

It is possible that the bleeding is caused by one of these cysts, although there may be an unrelated reason altogether. You need to be examined by a gynecologist in order to determine the cause of this continuous bleeding. As it has been going on since February, I definitely recommend that you see the doctor. Dermoid cysts are caused by cells that could have become eggs but something went wrong in the development, which resulted in the growth of a dermoid cyst. Ovarian dermoid cysts can occur after birth in a fertile female. I find it unlikely that the cysts are behind your low sex drive, - make sure you mention this problem to the gynecogist, too!
