Pain after Wisdom Tooth Removal Dental Surgery, Complication

Wisdom Tooth Surgery Complications
Dear DR
Last November I went to a Dentist to take out a wisdom Tooth, I had about 10 injections in my gum and had to have my gum opened as my wisdom tooth was not Coming up but it was on the side so the dentist had to drill and break it in 6 pieces to take it out I felt all the pain I did put my hand up hoping the dentist would stop but he did not stop I guess he wanted it over and I did too as the pain was getting stronger .

I did have antibiotics for 5 days and pain killers too and mouth wash too. After 3 weeks I still could not talk right and my tongue was stinging so I went to the dentist and he said that is would have been impossible that he might have damaged a nerve with a prick of a needle, he said give it time and I be ok . The next day I was worse so I went to see a Dr and he gave me some liquid to paste My tongue. Later, I went to another Dr and told my Dr that I still have the tingels like needles at the side of my gum were I had my wisdom tooth out and the side of my tongue too and the Dr said that I mite have the nerve knocked or damaged.
I took these pills

Zannat Film Coated 500mg whole box of 14 tabs
Neurorubine -Forte whole box of 20 tabs
Flagyl 400mg two sheats 20 tabs

I finised my tabs a week ago but still the same. the Dr told me to see a Neuroliest if I do not get better in 10 days, I still feel the same here at night I feel like a have a ball in my mouth and I cant speak good, do I go back to the dentist or find a neuroliest I feel very stress full about all this.
Can you please advise me who to see .

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

I’m not a dentist, but I suspect there are at least two possible causes for the continuing symptoms: 1) the wisdom tooth was not completely removed. The operation was apparently complicated and incomplete removal is a well known complication. 2) the surgery resulted in damage to adjacent tissues, possible damaging a nerve and causing chronic nerve damage symptoms (neuropathy).

I recommend that you see a dentist, preferably a dental surgon first, have an orthopantomography (panorama X-ray) taken to exclude incomplete removal and your teeth and gums examined properly. If no cause can be found, ask for a referral to a dentist or a doctor who specializes in orofacial pain (orofacial=face and mouth). Should that fail to help, you could see a neurologist and discuss treatment for chronic neuropathic pain.

Good luck!
