Tingling and Numbness in Fingers

about four months ago i took a hard fall down a flight of stairs besides a large hematoma that had to be drained i have experienced long periods of loose stools which i have had testing for… that all came back fine. But more recently i have been experiencing numbness and tingling down my arms and into my hands which wakes me up several times during the night and lasts long into the day, all my fingers are affected and it seems to be getting more intense. this has been happening now for approx. 5 weeks. please give me a suggestion should i see my doctor or waite to see if it will go away.

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

Not sure what kind of hematoma you had, but if you have a history of trauma and have neurological symptoms such as numbness and tingling in the arms, cervical spine status should be evaluated. Was the cervical spine initially examined and X-rayed? If these symptoms persist, I recommend you see your doctor and have him/her check your neurological status and re-evaluate your initial X-rays.
