I was browsing your site and noticed that you had no men’s health section. My question is something I am a little embarrassed to discuss with my family doctor. When I ejaculate my semen has jelly-like “strings” in it. What could cause it and is it harmful? Could it be a lack of a proper diet or too many vitamins? Also while I have you here, this day in age when so much emphasis is being put on overweight people it is odd of me to ask how to gain weight. I am 27 yrs. old and weigh 125 lbs. I have always been skinny and would like to know the healthiest and safest way to gain weight. Thank You for your time Doctor.

Thanks for the tip - I like the idea of having a Men’s Health section. Coming soon!
A person’s semen consistency is unique to that person. The consistency of semen varies quite a bit. From your description it does not sound like there’s anything really wrong with your semen. Not many people are aware what “average” semen looks like (I’m not).
As for the weight gain suggestion, here goes: Eat a lot of tasty healthy, varied food with lots of quality carbohydrates (not sugar), and exercise. Weight training at the gym is an especially good way to gain weight. Sign up for a basic weight training class to make sure you start out right, and make sure you get enough proteins in your diet. Don’t forget fruits and vegetables.
