I had my spine doctor tell me from x-rays that I have calcium deposits in my voice box. He is not treating me for it. What does this mean? Is it something I should seek diagnosis from my regular doctor for?
Dr. Joshua’s Answer:
Calcium deposits are often found in various parts of the body in x-rays and they are usually not of any significance. Sometimes such findings are significant in the diagnostics of inflammation, chronic illnesses or cancer. Calcium deposits around the larynx (voice box) are common. They are probably harmless, especially if your doctor did not consider them to be of any concern. If you are in doubt, get a second opinion of the X-rays from a radiologist or an ear, nose and throat specialist.
