Last week I was doing a mile walk over my lunch hour. A friend joined me this particular day. We work in a busy section of town so in places where there are no sidewalks require that I walk on the ground. Normally this isn’t a big deal but as I was talking to a friend that day I was not paying as much attention to the ground. I stepped into a hole, causing me to twist my ankle and I lost balance and fell to the ground. I got right back up dusted myself up and continued to walk. I had a minor injury to my ankle but the pain dissipated and was totally gone before it was time to go home. A couple of days later my neck started hurting to twist from side to side. The pain goes away with Ibuprofen and I am fine. This morning I woke up pain free but it has returned this afternoon. I will take some more Ibuprofen and the pain will go away. My question is “When should I see a Doctor?
Dr. Joshua’s Answer:
The mechanism of injury and your symptoms suggest mild neck strain. If you have no neurological symptoms (numbness, tingling or weakness in limbs), treatment of symptoms with ibuprofen and observation is adequate. If the symptoms persist, see the doctor.
