Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Brain Injury, Rehabilitation for Child

I’m seeking advice on a case.. My colleague has a 3 year old son who has been in a coma since 8 months ago.. The child was playing and fell in a small fountain pool, seemingly he hit his head and stayed under water for more than 7 minutes.. the doctors said that he lost consciousness because he drowned.. until a month ago he wasn’t breathing on his own and now he does but still unconscious.. the father, my colleague, is so overwhelmed that he and his wife are living in a total state of guilt and hoping for a miracle.. I would like to help them by asking your advice on where are the best facilities in Europe for such a case.. Why Europe because .. the travel arrangements would be much easier than in any other place..

I recommend that you contact the Medical Insurance Plan staff, or the workplace doctor to discuss the possibilities. From the limited information I have, it seems that the child is assumed to have hypoxic/ischemic brain injury, and I’m afraid there is probably no such top facility that could achieve a miraculous recovery. Of course, the quality of basic care and rehabilitation of brain injury patients can vary from one institution to another.

I am not familiar with private rehabilitation clinics for children with brain injury in Europe, but you could contact The Children’s Trust in the UK, and ask for more information on brain injury rehabilitation and care facilities for small children. The contact information is here:
