Weight Loss Problem
Please Help.
I jog 3 miles/ day. I weight train 3 days/week. I limit calories to 1300, fat 29g, carbs100g, protein100g. I cannot lose weight. I was always thin until my third child at the age of 35 (five years ago)
I cannot get below 155lbs.

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

Congratulations on such an active lifestyle. You exercise a lot, and pay attention to your diet, which is good.

If you are taking in fat 29g, carbohydrate 100g, and protein 100g per day, I make your calorie intake 1061 kcal/day, not 1300, unless the rest comes from alcohol, which in your case seems unlikely. Of course, it’s difficult (and unnecessary) to make such accurate daily diet calculations. If you are indeed taking in 1300 calories per day, you should be losing weight rapidly.

Now, I don’t know your height. Are you sure you need to lose weight? Try my Body Mass Index calculator in the post entitled How Much Should I Weigh? and see if you are indeed overweight. Please talk to your own doctor about this problem, so you can get advice that’s tailored to your needs.
