DUI..or not?
My Husband was painting with zinsser bin primer sealer stain killer paint highly contains alcohol vapor. He was painting in enclosed area with no ventialtion, He was painting 5-6 hrs breathing the paint vapors. He wears dentures. Could my husband score a reading on a breath test for DUI ….. we really need to know about this Please reply back to me and my husband ASAP…… to answer our question,,,, we really need an answer to this….

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

It’s possible.

If he took the test for DUI right after inhaling the paint vapours, there may be alcohol in his breath. Also if he has spent several hours inhaling the vapours, there may be alcohol and other chemicals in his bloodstream which could then affect the reliability of the test. Basically any impurity may affect the accuracy of such a test. A blood test for alcohol should settle the issue, whether he was driving under the influence or not.
