Panic Attacks and Paxil Dosage

Hello, I am a 39 year old male who has suffered panic attacks for the last 5 years. In June 2003 I was put on Paxil 10mg once daily, I noticed an increase in sweating a lot, so I was switched to Zoloft 50mg and after 3 months I was feeling really depressed and having mood swings, So My doctor changed me back to Paxil 10mg and I’ve been on it ever since. I felt much better, able to communicate better with others, no more panic attacks, felt happy once again until about the last 2 months. I find the panic attacks are coming back but not as often as in the beginning. When I go to Lowes, Home Depot, or Wal-mart, I get toward the back of the store, I start having a panic attack, I think, I’ve gotta get out of here or I may die> Nervously, I start back to the front of the store, heading for the car, once outside, I feel a big relief. This also happens while driving a vehicle, My heart begins racing, I feel so afraid. I feel as tho the paxil is no longer strong enough. DO you think if my physician put me on a higher dose, such as Paxil 20mg instead of 10mg, would help? It’s like the Paxil has quit working. Please reply back soon, Eddie

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

I think it would be worth a try to increase the dosage to 20 mg daily. Talk to your physician about this.?
