Body Hair Color

Hi Dr. Joshua,

I’m a male in my early 20s and I think I’m pretty healthy. I have a question about body hair. Is it normal for hair to be dramatically different colors on different parts of the body? I have dark brown hair on my head, pubic region, legs, and arms, but blonde hair on my chest (and a little on my arms). Does this simply mean the chest hair is in the process of changing dark? Is this normal?

?

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:

I wouldn’t be too worried about this. As you age, your body hair will increase and may even change color. It’s not uncommon to have different hair colors in different parts of the body. Have your primary care physician take a look to ease your concerns.?
