Hello Dr.Joshua. Maybe my question isnt an emergency type of question or life threatning, but I am trying to know something. My question is if its possible for young women in the age of 16-18 have stretch marks in the breast area and weist area without ever being pregnant or overweight, always maintaining the exact weight for their age and height. Is it that maybe their body were developed to quickly and big in breast size and created those particular stretch marks. Maybe their exercise routine created those stretch marks. Please help me resolve the answer to this question if you dont mind helping me out.

Dr. Joshua’s Answer:
There are a number of conditions and illnesses which can cause stretch marks (stria) on the skin. The most common are, as you suggest, weight gain and pregnancy. I cannot exclude the possibility that someone may have stria without having had one of these two, or any other specific conditions. So, based on the above information, I would guess that the skin has been probably stretched at some point in her life, but I cannot say this with 100% certainty, and I certainly don’t know what the cause has been in this particular case.
